This release contains no new features, but allows Deltup to be compiled with GCC 4.4.0. Many thanks to Nicolai for the heads-up!

After about a year of inactivity, Deltup/BDelta is once again in the process of being updated. Progress can be tracked via the new SVN repositories at svn://deltup.org/deltup and svn://deltup.org/bdelta. Moving to SVN will make maintenance much easier, plus providing many nice new features.

Bzip2 1.0.5 and lzma support are at the top of my TODO list. Please send me (or post in the forums) any feature or bugfix requests.

How popular is Deltup?

Hello Deltup Users!
I got to thinking today, wondering if there is a good way to find out how many people actually use Deltup. It's a difficult question to answer. One thing is certain, the download counter on this website drastically understates the number of actual downloads because most people probably get Deltup as a DTU update. Besides this, the Gentoo mechanism for downloading from this website doesn't increment the counter. :( The best way to get a feel for the number of users is to look at the Dynamic Deltup Server's stats page. Cache hits is at almost 4000 (as of April 14, 2007) for the top download! Does that mean that at least that many systems use the Dynamic Deltup Server? Yes, it probably does! Hey, I'm pretty happy with that! 4000 users is a pretty good number for a niche project like this! I want to thank everyone for all the positive responses I've gotten over the last few years!
Thanks!

Deltup 0.4.3 released

Hi everyone!
I haven't had any complaints about this version of Deltup for a while, so I have removed the pre tag and re-released it after applying a patch from Nicolai Lissner that allows it to recognize bzip v. 1.0.4. The website hasn't been updated for quite some time. That is because I have been very busy completing my last year at college. I am graduating in May and hope to be able to put much more time into developing Deltup and BDelta. I plan to make the structure of Deltup more flexible so that it can handle recursive patching (compressed files within compressed files) and other odd cases. I plan to put a great deal of effort into making BDelta more efficient as well. Thanks to everyone for their interest!
